Why online dating?

Because it’s a fun and easy way to meet new people. Many people still do not fully understand what online dating is all about. There are many different platforms and communities that exist. Online dating platforms to connect like-minded people to find a new friend, date, partner or casual contact. Dating sites help you increase your search radius. Online dating is what you make out of it – just like in real life when you go out with friends to a bar to meet new people.

What is important when choosing a dating site?

A good start is to ask yourself whether you are looking for a fun date or a new partner for a long-term relationship? This is a good distinction to help you choose between the different platforms. At one side of the spectrum you have the pure dating (or even casual dating) portals that have thousands of profiles that you can browse and on the other end there are the so-called matchmaking sites that want to help you to find your soul-mate or future spouse. Read through our reviews of the various online dating sites to find out which platform offers what.

What should my budget be when starting online dating?

There are many different options, ranging from 100% free dating sites to paid membership sites with monthly costs. What you choose depends on your preferences. Its worth noting that paid-for dating services deter scammers and fakes as the barrier to entry is a little higher.

How do we rate our sites?

We sign up to each and every site on our ranking page and where possible take out a premium membership. We then critique each site on security, usability, credibility and usability. Based on this main review and also on customer feedback we assign each site a weighted score based on these two factors.

Finally a dating website with decent REAL people in their user database that you can actually communicate with! Makes the paying part easier to digest I think.

I saw there advertising on Facebook so I decided to do some of my own research. I created a free profile to see whats up. They gave me 3 months premium membership for free. I'm not sure exactly why, but I'm not complaining. But i am super sketchy about this. I haven't given them my card details, and no mony has been taken out of my account, so I presume its either a mistake or a goodwill gesture. The sites design is really great. Modern and clean and simple to use. Cons: Not soo many people in Saskatchewan.

Dating and Safety

Online dating for Canadian singles is a fun and exciting way to broaden your potential dating horizons. There’s an ever increasing number of sites whose services are all clamoring for your attention. All of this is a natural response to an increase in demand! That’s right, online dating in Canada is no longer something which is stigmatised. Quite the opposite in fact.

Dating sites are a great way to increase the number of new people with whom you meet and hopefully, ‘click’ with. However, sometimes people forget their personal safety when flirting online.

While there is no need to for paranoia – we really don’t want to see you potential life changing online dating experience sullied by a scammer. We have compiled this extremely brief summary on how to stay safe when meeting people online:

  1. Never send a person that you have never met or do not know money. You should be extremely cautious when a stranger asks you to help him or her financially. No matter how heartbreaking the story, and how much you trust and believe them, 99% of the time, these confidence tricksters are just out to get your money. These people are professionals who create dramatic stories that call for your compassion – often involving diseases, tragic personal events like accidents or other sad stories. So before you decide to financially support a person you do not know, you should consult with a close friend, a family member or a lawyer. Usually outsiders have a more objective view on the matter.
  2. Always be prudent when meeting somebody in person for the first time. You have met a special someone you find very interesting and you cannot wait to meet him or her in person for the first time – this is absolutely natural and understandable. However, you should still take a few basic precautions: inform somebody you trust that you are going to meet a person you have met online, provide them with the details of the site if you can. Tell your family or friend the name, email-address and phone-number of the person you will meet. Moreover, select a public location or a place where you would feel comfortable and that gives you options to leave if you realize that they may not be the perfect match for you.

The points mentioned above are not meant to scare or put you off online dating! Online dating can be both fun and safe if you respect basic rules (and common sense). There a lot of Canadian singles just like you looking for the right partner. If you are looking for a casual date, a long term relationship or just someone to socialize with in or around in French Speaking Canada, why not check out our partner site

Whichever country your search for love takes you to, we hope you have a great journey and wish you all the best.
